Missing the theatre

Since the last blog post way back when in December 2010 I have been busy at my new workplace and have had no real time for being involved with plays or even going to plays or the cinema for that matter. Well, as they say, all work and no play makes Phil a dull boy.

The last few months (June and July) have seen me making an effort to go to the theatre more often and of late I went to see a very good production of Into the Woods at the Lakeside theatre at Nottingham University. The standard was very high and a lot of my friends were in it from The Lace Market Theatre and it was directed by Martin Berry who directed my production of A Christmas Carol a few years ago. I also went to the Nottingham playhouse to see Eve Loiseau singing songs by Edith Piaf. Again, another great night out.

Inspired by my experiences as an audience member I have recently re-joined the Lace Market Theatre and hope to get involved in a production of Hedda Gabler which starts in May 2012 and tours to Germany as part of the twinning arrangement we have with two amateur theatres in the city of Karlsruhe.
